Animated Tutorials

On this page, you will find several animated PowerPoint presentations that help you to understand basic mathematics better. They are easy to use and fun to watch, but it may take a while to download for the first time. You may prefer to download the viewing software when you are not in a hurry, and then enjoy the shows later. Since PowerPoint is a Microsoft product, it will work better with Internet Explorer.

Instructions:

  1. Click one of the following titles that interests you most.
  2. When you see the new screen, right click anywhere on the slide and then choose "Full screen" from the menu.
  3. If you need to stop or rewind at any point, right click again.


Addition and Subtraction of integers:
This show explains how to add and subtract positive and negative numbers with a toy car moving on a number line.

Ocean of Zeros: Multiplication, Division
This show explains how to multiply and divide positive and negative numbers. The numbers are represented by color fish in an ocean, and you need to watch the show to find out why it is called an ocean of zeros.

Solving simple equations with a pan balance:
This show explains how to solve for the unknown x in a simple equation. The approach is very visual and it makes sense even to math anxious.
