Flex Week & Convocation Archives

Flex Week / Convocation Archives

Flex Week and Convocation take place each fall and spring just prior to the start of classes for students. Convocation provides the campus community an opportunity to come together to focus the start of the semester on Grossmont College's goals of Outreach, Engagement, Retention, and Institutional Capacity. Flexweek provides opportunities for faculty and staff to continue their development as key players in providing and supporting educational opportunities for our students.

Below you will find links to the latest semesters activities as well as archives to previous years.

Classified Convocation Archives

In previous years, as part of an ongoing year round professional development program the Classified Staff Professional Development Committee created a special Convocation program for classified staff. Beginning in the Fall of 2017, in support of bringing staff, faculty, and administrators together the campus community came together in a campus wide Convocation activity. To access the archives from the previous Classified Convocation please see the link below:

ACE FELI

The ACE Experiential Learning Institute (FELI) is five-day professional development experience designed for community college faculty, staff, and administrators.  The FELI is an experiential workshop involving more than fifty exercises and activities. These activities include but are not limited to large group discussion, small group sharing and presentations, movement activities, role-playing and reflection. ACE structures the activities to create a community of learners, and asks that all attendees be prepared to participate fully as active learners. We use many different pedagogical techniques to allow for learning and growth in unexpected ways, as well as, to keep participants fully engaged throughout the day. We ask that participants attend each day in full as each exercise builds on the previous one and rapport is built within the group as the days unfold. Each FELI group is capped at 25 participants to ensure time for each participant to be heard.

The Academy for College Excellence (ACE) facilitated two Five-Day Experiential Learning Institutes (FELI) at Grossmont College in August 2016 and June 2017.

More than 50 staff, faculty, and administrators have participated in these experiential workshops.
