The Grossmont College campus is currently closed due to the COVID-19 health emergency. All ACE courses are online. The ACE professors are providing high-quality academic English instruction remotely via the Canvas and Zoom platforms. 

*Full tuition is due on the first day of the session (Orientation Day). Tuition does not include the cost for textbooks, parking permit, or medical insurance. The estimated cost of textbooks and online resources needed for ACE classes is $200. The cost for a Grossmont College parking permit is $40 (Summer Session $18). The estimated cost of medical insurance in the U.S. is $50-100 per month, depending on the benefits.

Refund Policy: When requested in writing, a tuition refund will be given through the first week of class. There are no tuition refunds after the second week of class has started.

During the 8 or 14-week session, students will receive intensive English instruction in the following courses:

  • Grammar and  Writing
  • Reading and Vocabulary 
  • American Pronunciation
  • College Listening and Speaking (Fall/Spring)
  • Integrated Skills Projects (Summer) 
  • Business English (limited sessions)

ACE class lessons use intermediate to high-intermediate level English. ACE offers two levels of instruction. Level 1 is for students with high-beginning to low-intermediate English skills. Level 2 is for students with intermediate to high-intermediate English Skills. A placement test is given on orientation day to determine each student's English proficiency level.

Guaranteed Admission to Grossmont College after ACE (No TOEFL required!)

Students who complete an ACE session and fulfill the academic requirements in their ACE coursework are eligible to transfer to Grossmont College without a TOEFL score.

At the end of an ACE session, students are eligible to enroll in Grossmont College classes when they have
1. earned a combined 3.0 grade point average (4.0 GPA scale) 
OR
2. taken the Grossmont College ESL Assessment Test and placed into ESL 105 or higher (currently not available due to campus closure)

AND
3. showed continued academic progress with good attendance, and
4. completed the Grossmont College application process (ACE staff will assist).

ACE students eligible for Grossmont College transfer are considered to have skills equivalent to the 45 TOEFL iBT.

Grossmont College offers 16-week semester length courses and 8-week courses. At the time an ACE session ends, a Grossmont semester or session begins, making your transition to Grossmont an easy one.

ACE Spring and Summer Session students transfer directly to GC Fall Semester. ACE Fall Session students transfer directly to GC Spring Semester.
