Arrival in U.S. and Visa

Immigration regulations allow students with an F-1 visa to use their I-20 to enter the U.S.A. up to 30 days prior to the program start date listed on their I-20.

All students are required to attend a two-day orientation. Plan to arrive 4 weeks before the first day of the fall semester and 3 weeks to 6 weeks before the first day of spring semester classes in order to attend the earliest possible orientation program and locate housing. You should plan to be in the U.S. at least one day before orientation.

It is your responsibility to make flight arrangements which will enable you to attend orientation. Failure to attend orientation will result in cancellation of your admission to Grossmont College.

The 30-day period is a federal immigration law, and students may be turned away at the port of entry if they arrive earlier.
