Parking is free for Write-a-Thon participants! Use code # 1287 at any parking lot kiosk to obtain a one-day dashboard permit on November 16, 2019.

Come join us for the Creative WRITE-A-THON, a day-long fundraising event of fun and creative writing activities to help raise money for the Grossmont College English Department’s Creative Writing Program and bring critically acclaimed and internationally recognized authors to the Literary Arts Festival. Participants and their sponsors pledge amounts based on hours spent at the event, but lump-sum donations are also accepted. 
All it takes is a minimum of $50 in pledges to support literary arts programs and events such as the annual spring Literary Arts Festival: 
  • a full day of inspirational writing prompts and literary activities in multiple genres; 
  • notebooks welcome, or b.y.o. laptop (power outlets provided);
  • continental breakfast, lunch, and H20;
  • earn 1 ticket for every $10 raised, to participate in raffles throughout the day;
  • everyone who stays to the end has a chance to win a fabulous Grand Prize!
  • Pledge sheets available from a participating English Dept./Creative Writing Program instructor.

 

PLEASE SUPPORT US AND CONTRIBUTE! 

We welcome raffle and giveaway contributions of… 

  • new or gently read books (of poetry, fiction, or literary nonfiction), especially signed volumes
  • gift cards and tickets, for anything (books, movie theaters, restaurants, aroma therapy—whatever!)
  • writerly sundries (such as journals/diaries; pen & pencil sets; word-a-day calendars; etc.)
  • literary novelties (literature-themed apparel, writerly action figures, jewelry, coffee mugs, etc.)
  • literary collectibles (prints, posters, etc.), especially autographed items
  • any cool tech, electronics, or gadgetry useful for starving writers and students
  • anything weird or fun (e.g., canned unicorn meat, fidget spinners, bacon flavored Toothpaste, etc.)

Support the Literary Arts Festival. Your contribution of $50 or more can help us empower and inspire our students by bringing to our campus a rich diversity of living, world-class poets and writers—authors who, through their writing, inspire change, raise awareness, and keep the humanities flourishing during times like these. Cash or check—both are welcome. Tax-deductible donations can also be made to our Foundation’s Creative Writing Fund.
