Project Success

PROJECT SUCCESS STUDENTS complete more units than other students; earn higher GPAs than average freshmen; experience a greater sense of academic involvement by being part of a group.  In the weeks ahead, look for Project Success links, info, resources, and more.  Meanwhile, see below for our current semester's linked course offerings.

"I really enjoyed being in the Allied Health Link.  I like the fact that the students got along and it was easier for us to work together.  It made us feel comfortable with each other as well as with the professors.  Our professors were extremely helpful and they actually cared about our learning.  The material that was covered during class connected to what was being covered in the others. There was always a way to relate one class to another.  I'm really glad I chose to enroll in the link.  It definitely changed my point of view on school and left a positive impact on my life and academics."

"In my perspective, the link courses help students become close to one another, enabling them to become successful in their courses.  It was because of the link courses that we were able to build our Math and English foundations.  The links sharpened and heightened my academic skills and gave me confidence in both subjects."

"The linked courses enable students to build great relationships with one another, thereby facilitating teamwork.  The professors are very dedicated and exemplify true professionalism.  I would take all of my college courses this way if available."

"I successfully completed several semesters of Project Success courses at Grossmont College.  I returned to college as an older student and benefited immensely from the reading and writing habits I learned as a student in the Project.  I began with English 110 and 110R. The focus of this reading/writing set of courses made the transition back to college much easier by preparing me for the academic rigor of my major.  After successfully completing English 110/110R, I enrolled in another Project Success link, English 120 and Anthropology 130. These linked courses prepared students to conduct research and write a research paper.  To this day I still use the study methods I was taught in English 120. I went on to join the Honors program that included linked Humanities 110 and History 105 courses.  Both Project Success and the Honors cluster gave me access to classes that were challenging and stimulating.   I became part of Grossmont's Honors Transfer Council and Phi Theta Kappa. . . ."

". . . I attended the Honors Transfer Council of California conference at UC Irvine and presented the research paper that I wrote in English 120. I firmly believe that it was the participation in the Honors cluster as well as the resources offered to me through the Project Success program that resulted in my acceptance and scholarship to UCLA.  I graduated from UCLA in the Spring of 2012 with my B.A. in Women's Studies and a minor in Hebrew and Jewish Studies.  I am currently attending Claremont Graduate Universities School of Religion.  I will be receiving my M.A. in Critical Comparative Scriptures with a focus on the Hebrew Bible.  Had I not been a part of these programs I do not know if I would be as successful as I have been in my academic career.  Project Success gave me a solid foundation to build upon and made return to academia less daunting and more exciting.  For these opportunities I am grateful."

"Project Success has set the foundation for me because I have been out of the classroom setting for more than fifteen years. This program gave me the skills and tools I so desperately needed to become a successful college student...."

"...Also, in Project Success, there is a cohort of students with similar goals, which creates a positive learning environment where we motivate each other to do our absolute best. Trust me, Project Success lives up to its name. It will project you as a successful student while pursuing your educational goals."
