Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Champions 2001, 2014
Helping student/athletes become better players and better people then ultimately move on to four year institutions to continue their playing careers and realize their dreams is a big reason why Doug Weber coaches.
A Pacific Coast Championship and Coach of the Year honors are nice rewards for the hard work, but sending players on to universities is much more rewarding, and that number continues to grow each year. There have been a total of 39 student/athletes move on during Coach Weber's tenure at Grossmont College. This is a trend that started during the seven years Weber was an assistant to Norm Parrish at Salt Lake Community College where all 44 sophomores received scholarship offers. The Bruins had seven players earn Academic All-American honors and two players earn NJCAA All-American honors.
Prior to SLCC, while earning his Masters Degree, Weber was an assistant at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. During those four years, the Mustangs had several all-conference players and one All-American. Weber started his coaching career during his senior year at UC Santa Barbara at San Marcos High School.
Over 80 players have received scholarship offers as a result of playing for these coaches. Eighteen of those players have continued their playing careers professionally in the NBA, CBA, or overseas.
Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Doug and his wife Deanna, a Patrick Henry alum have two daughters Alyssa and Lauren. In the family's free time they enjoy ice skating, riding bikes and going to the beach for a little rest and relaxation.
