Doug HartungCoach Doug Hartung joined the Griffin staff as head coach in 2012.
Hartung is a product of the California Community College system, receiving his Associates Degree from El Camino College in Los Angeles before completing his Bachelors at San Diego State University. Hartung later earned a Master's Degree from USIU in 1989. Hartung went on to earn a teaching credential, and recently retired after a 35-year stint as a Spanish teacher in the Grossmont Union High School District.
Hartung is a veteran coach in the area with over 30 years of experience before coming to Grossmont. His experience is both as a baseball and softball coach. Hartung served posts as the Varsity Head Coach at El Cajon Valley, Granite Hills and Valhalla high schools.
His passion for coaching has lead Hartung to coach travel and recreational softball teams. Hartung has also kept his competitiveness by playing in adult baseball leagues around San Diego.
Hartung is married with two grown daughters and enjoys surfing when he is not on the diamond.
