Course description: This class offers a complete exercise experience for 3 different fitness levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced. You will learn essential concepts such as health-related fitness training principles, weight management, healthy eating principles, injury prevention/treatment, and exercise techniques to improve both aerobic and muscular fitness. Each class will include exercise activities that will change in format (individual, partner, large group, circuit) and location (indoors, outdoors.) Outdoor activities include jogging, stair climbing and other cardio-based movements. It's fun!

Course description: This class offers focuses on stress - what it is and strategies to better manage it. Each class will include exercise activities that will change in format and location (e.g. inside/outside) as well as mindfulness strategies (e.g. meditation) . . . every day will be different! You will also learn learn essential concepts such as fitness training principles, weight management, healthy eating concepts, and proper exercise techniques.

What is the class about?
Course Description: This class explores the broad spectrum of kinesiology as an academic discipline that focuses on physical activity. You will examine the key issues and concepts connected to human movement (i.e., history/philosophy, exercise physiology, motor behavior, sport/exercise psychology). Additionally, we’ll discuss the many career options and expectations of professionals in the field - you will learn what steps are needed to become a physical therapist, athletic trainer, dietician, PE teacher, strength & conditioning coach, wellness director, and so much more. It’s a great class!
No perquisites are required, however, it is strongly suggested that this class be taken after the second semester of college. Reading and writing skills are important.

Course Description: This is an awesome class - you will learn the latest concepts to improve your overall health in many dimensions: stress, sleep, drugs, chronic disease, weight control, relationships/communication, nutrition, alcohol/tobacco, fitness, sexually transmitted infections and more. Class is focused on you applying the information to your everyday life.
Recommended Preparation: A "C" grade or higher of "Pass" in English 110 or English as a Second Language 119 or equivalent. Strong reading and writing skills are important in this class

Background
Professor Beth Kelley is full-time faculty in the Exercise Science & Wellness Department. A northern California native, she was a kinesiology lecturer at San Francisco State University and directed their employee wellness program before making the move to San Diego - she loves teaching our classes in fitness, health, and for kinesiology majors! (Beth also taught at SRJC and UNLV but doesn’t miss the desert heat of Las Vegas.) She is an ACSM-Certified Exercise Physiologist and was self-employed for many years as a worksite wellness consultant and gained experience working with just about every population and topic you can think of. Dr. Kelley is addicted to learning and growing; she has been involved with statewide initiatives and professional organizations throughout her career. A proud community college graduate, Professor Kelley is excited to give back and work with future generations of students.
