ACE Faculty and Staff

Meet the ACE Faculty and Staff! We are here to help you succeed!

Our highly-qualified and experienced ACE instructors are also Grossmont College ESL professors. All have Master's Degrees related to teaching English as a Second Language.

Annette Aagard

Annette has a Bachelor Degree in English, and a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). She teaches ACE Listening & Speaking and Integrated Skills Projects classes.

When Annette is not teaching, you can usually find her reading a book at the beach. She also loves travel, learning, and volunteering. She grew up in Orlando, Florida.

Inna Cannon

Inna holds a Bachelor Degree in English from St. Petersburg State Pedagogic University, Russia. Her Master of Arts is in TESOL from Alliant University, San Diego. She teaches ACE Pronunciation.

Inna loves dancing; she does Zumba several days a week. Additionally, she likes to play word games. Inna lived in Russia during as a child and young adult.

Leah Cooper

Leah's Bachelor of Arts is in Public Relations and Spanish. Her Master of Arts is in Education with an emphasis in TESOL. She teaches Reading & Vocabulary with ACE.

Leah is always on the go! Her hobbies are camping, hiking, reading, cooking, kayaking, traveling, and raising chickens. She is a native Californian who grew up along the Central Coast.

Ann Hubbard

Ann's degrees are a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of San Diego, and a Masters in Linguistics from San Diego State University. Ann teaches ACE Grammar & Writing.

Ann's father was in the army for 35 years, so she did not grow up in any one place, but in four different states and two countries. Her hobbies are swimming, tennis, reading, travel, and learning about foreign cultures.

Alyona Gorokhova

Aly has a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from San Diego State University. Aly teaches Grammar & Writing for ACE.

Aly was born in Russia and grew up in Kyrgyzstan, and she moved to the US when she was 15. Aly's hobby is reading fiction, and she has a book club to read and discuss novels with friends. She also likes to learn how to make dishes from different cultures, for example, kimchi (Korean) and tabouleh (Lebanese). 

Professor Myles Marchand

Frederick Myles Marchand

With over 15 years of experience in teaching ESL, Myles specializes in developing students’ academic writing. Born and raised in the sunshine of San Diego, California, Myles attended San Diego State University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History and received his Master of Arts in TESOL from Alliant International University.

Myles studied abroad in Costa Rica where he learned Spanish, taught English, and lived for nearly three years. He has a passion for surfing, playing soccer, and listening to rock music.

Adolf Schmuck

Adolf attended San Diego State University to earn his degrees: a Bachelor, in General Humanities with a minor in German, and a Master's in Applied Linguistics. He also holds a Basic Certificate in Applied Linguistics and English as a Second Language. He teaches ACE Reading & Vocabulary.

Adolf is a native of San Diego. In his spare time, he likes to play guitar and other instruments and to record his own music.

Jaquelin Yang

Jaquelin holds Bachelor degrees in English Literature and Psychology. She has a Master of Science Education in TESOL. 

Jaquelin is from Los Angeles, California. Her hobbies and interests are trying new foods, going to concerts, traveling to new cities and countries, and exercising with friends.

Professor Natalia Aylett 

Natalia Aylett, Academic Coordinator

Natalia has a Master of Arts in English with a concentration in TESOL and has been teaching ESL for 12 years. She has been at Grossmont College since 2011. Her favorite thing about her job is getting to meet and learn from students from all over the world. 

Before moving to the United States as an international student, Natalia lived in Uruguay, South America. Her first language is Spanish, but she also speaks English, Portuguese, and is working on her Italian. In her free time, she enjoys spending time at the beach with her family or enjoying a good movie or TV show.

Sandy Kuntz, International Student Specialist

Sandy has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Education from Ohio State University and a Certificate in TESOL from University of California, San Diego. Prior to ACE, she worked with the Grossmont College Counseling and International Admissions Offices. As the International Student Specialist, Sandy answers your inquiries about ACE and Grossmont College. She looks forward to assisting you!

Sandy enjoys nature, photography, yoga, trying new foods, and reading and learning about other cultures. She is from Ohio, a state in the middle of the U.S.
