ECS - What is Umoja?
The UMOJA (a Kiswahili word meaning Unity) Program is not only a community; but a critical resource, that is dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of African Americans and other students at Grossmont Community College.
ECS-UMOJA Eligibility
Students who are interested in participating in the UMOJA Cohort for the 2018 - 2019 academic year should:
1. Enroll in the 1 Unit UMOJA Counseling Classes for the fall 2018 & spring 2019 semesters (classes & section numbers listed below).
2. Take their math & English placement assessments as soon as possible or submit their SAT scores, high school transcripts, or other college transcripts to Grossmont College so that we can recommend the appropriate UMOJA math or English instructor.
3. Schedule an UMOJA Appointment with UMOJA Program Coordinator Jason Allen (619.844.3089 cell) to create an Academic Educational Plan that features our awesome UMOJA English & math & other professors for your fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters!!!
