NCAA Qualifier/Non-Qualifier
If you have not done so already, it is important for you to know your NCAA Qualifier status, so you can be advised properly. If you do not apply or have official documentation of being a Qualifier, you are assumed to be a Non-Qualifier.
DO NOT ASSUME THAT YOU ARE A QUALIFIER UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN CLEARED BY THE NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER.
Steps to find your Qualifier status (for US Students):
1. Determine if you have the necessary "Core Courses"
a. Make sure you have your high school transcript(s) and SAT or ACT Test scores with you - If you have not completed the SAT or ACT by the time your graduating class finishes school you are automatically a Non-Qualifier.
b. Log onto: www.eligibilitycenter.org
c. In left column, click on "List of Approved Core Courses (formerly 48H)"
d. Look up your high school code
e. Enter the 6-digit high school code
f. Click "Submit"
g. To see the list of courses approved by the NCAA click "Continue"
h. Calculate your GPA for the 16 Core Courses
i. Determine if you have the appropriate test score(s) based on the DI sliding scale (DII does not have a sliding scale)
2. Once you have determined that you have the necessary Core Courses and you have the minimum test scores, you need to create an account.
a. Log onto: www.eligibilitycenter.org
b. Click on "Prospective Student Athletes"
c. In left column, click "Registration Form for U.S. Students"
d. Enter the semester and year that you plan to attend an NCAA Division I or II institution
e. Click "Submit"
f. Click on "Click here to go to that site."
g. A new window will appear
h. Click on "New Account" on the upper right hand corner
i. Follow the instructions to create a new account
3. Send your high school transcript(s), test score(s), and payment to the NCAA Eligibility Center.
You will be notified by email if you are an NCAA Qualifier or Non-Qualifier.
NCAA Division I
2-4 Transfer Rules
Qualifier Student Athlete Transferring to Division I
At the two-year school, did you:
Complete at least one term/one semester as a full-time student?
Summer school doesn't count.
Earn an average of 12-semester credit hours for each term you started full-time? These credit hours must be transferable toward your degree at the four-year school.
Have a cumulative GPA of 2.000?
If you answered YES to all of the questions above
If you answered NO to all of the questions above:
Non-Qualifier Student Athlete Transferring to Division I
At the two-year school, did you:
Complete at least three semesters or four quarters as a full-time student? Summer school does not count.
Earn an Associate of Arts degree (or an equivalent degree)? You must earn 25 percent of the credit hours at the two-year school that awards your degree.
Earn 48-semester or 72-quarter credit hours? These credit hours must be transferable toward your degree at the four-year school.
Have a cumulative GPA of 2.000?
If you answered YES to all of the questions above:
You can practice
You can receive financial aid
You can play right away during the first year after you transfer
If you answered NO to all of the questions above:
You can practice
You can receive financial aid
You cannot play until you complete one full academic year of residence

A student athlete who transfers from a four-year school, then transfers to Grossmont College and plans to transfer to another four-year school is considered a 4-2-4 Transfer.
