Dear Screening Committee Chair,
The Classified Senate requires consultation when selecting for committees. We have an established procedure that has been created to encourage broad participation from our constituency group that is inclusive and fair. We believe that with enough notice we can plan for when classified will needed to be called upon and there will be ample time to send a recruitment email and to staff these committees prior to the committees meeting.
From January 2019, requests for classified professionals to sit on any committees, including screening committees shall be sent to grossmont.classified@gcccd.edu with the attention to Classified Senate President Cindy Emerson. We require at least 7 business days to advertise a position to give ample time for our constituent group to reply and for our selection committee to decide who shall be appointed. We do understand that there sometimes needs to be a quick turnaround, and we will do our best to provide names to the chair as soon as we decide.
