What ISN'T on this page?

Since the mid 1980s, the meaning of the term "bibliographic" has increasingly broadened to include electronic resources of every variety. Even print resources published in the pre-digital era are now being digitized for electronic access. A large number of the sources listed on this and other bibliographies in the Lester Bangs Archive are already available on-line. However, the virtual medium is not always a fixed medium, and, in particular, the addresses of on-line sources change or disappear altogether. Therefore, in order to avoid repeated updating for broken links on these pages, they have been intentionally omitted so that users can look for these titles on their own. However, sources known to be available on the internet have been identified as such in their citations.

Acknowledgments

All pictures are the property and copyright of their respective owners, unless otherwise mentioned.

Because one of the goals of the Grossmont College Lester Bangs Archive is to make our Reference Desk's bibliographies as comprehensive as possible, the following citations have been compiled by combing hundreds upon hundreds of conscientiously researched print and electronic works, as well as dozens of library catalogues, databases, and selected bibliographies. Jim DeRogatis, author of the Bangs biography, Let It Blurt, is owed no small debt of gratitude for his excellent appendices citing a great many of Lester's primary and secondary sources. Hosts of other writers and researchers, though—such as John Morthland, Greil Marcus, Roger Anderson, Robert Christgau, Bob Houghton, Sue Matthews, Richard Meltzer, Rob Tyner, and Susan Whitall, and others too numerous to mention—are also deserving of acknowledgment. Our hope is that the resources on this site will pay forward these efforts by assisting and inspiring tomorrow's Lester Bangs researchers.  If you know of a source missing from this or other pages, please send a citation of the work to Lester Bangs Archive management with a short explanation of its origins or provenance.
