Note: The Creem Office Sessions (a.k.a., The famous Lester Bangs Session) were recorded live in the Creem Offices in 1978, without the benefits of a recording studio or a sound engineer. In the tradition of the jam session, the content of these recordings, including lyrics and music, are largely improvisational and, while the lyrics have been transcribed as faithfully as possible, they are at times notably ad libbed. In addition to forgiving the periodic lapses that occur in these particular transcriptions because of the source's poor sound quality or garbled diction, readers are encouraged to overlook the occasional incoherence of these lyrics as well.

ABOUT THE LYRICS:
[1] Dorothy Lamour (December 10, 1914 – September 22, 1996): American actress and singer appearing alongside Bing Crosby and Bob Hope in their "Road" movies, and star of the 1934 musical, St. Louis Blues. Early in her career, she is rumored to have had an affair with FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover.
Bangs had a penchant for holding onto the emotional baggage of past girlfriends. As he explained once to friend and Creem critic Billy Altman, he wanted all of them to witness him at his worst. In 1977, Lester's former girlfriend, Nancy Alexander, took pity on the dejected and blue Bangs and Altman and invited them to Thanksgiving dinner, even though Alexander was already in another committed relationship. Later, in the lyrics of his love song to her, "Nancy Two," Lester would proclaim "Our bond is strong," mistaking Nancy's pity for an affirmation of their true love.
