A studio version of this song was recorded at New York's Big Apple Studios in May 1977 for Ork Records's never-released Lester Bangs's EP. Musicians backing Bangs in the studio were Jody Harris, David Hofstra, Jay Dee Dougherty, and Robert Quine. The title is possibly a reference to the idiom, "melting pot."
